This is how...
I achieve my everyday smokey eye. Yes, these colors are all purples, but you can replace them with ANY colors you want -- Just pick equivalent light/medium/dark colors. This whole process takes me about 15-20 minutes depending on if it's a good blending/cat eye day or not haha
Here's what I used:
This is the palette I used! Gorgeous YSL so luxurious haha Don't believe you can purchase this exact palette anymore, but THIS Lancome Palette in "Amythyst Glam" is almost identical. I will refer to the numbers of the shadow colors - also the order I used them
This is everything I used! (I will refer to these in the pictures below)
Let's quickly discuss brushes:
these are all the brushes I used + links to purchase them
I always apply my base shadow with this brush, it's dense & firm so it picks up a lot of color! Coastal Scents Classic Shadow Dome Natural Used on steps 1-2
Used to blend out crease colors & soften any lines My favorite blender brush! Coastal Scents Blender Crease Natural
Tiny tiny brush to add concentrated darker colors (sorry it's dirty) Used to apply color #4 to outer V Coastal Scents Classic Small Natural
This one is actually a paint brush from Michael's Craft Store I bought years ago. Use this to apply shimmery white. Super precise, but still soft. This Coastal Scents brush is practically the same
Elf Studio Small Angled Brush to get smudgy shadow on lower lash line
Bobbi Brown Ultra Fine Eyeliner Brush BEST gel/cream eyeliner brush I've ever used. It's incredibly versitile
First things first: PREP with Urban Decay Primer Potion "Orignal" - no picture :(
Here we go!
Apply color #1 to outside half of lid, extend a little into crease
Apply color #2 to inner half of lid
Blend out shadow past crease and up towards brow bone with fluffy blender -- keep strokes soft, let your brush do the work
Apply Lorac Lorac Baked Matte Satin Eye Shadow in "Social" under brow (this one is almost the exact color of my skin so it's hard to see)
Color #4 onto "outer V" & extend a tiny bit over outer 1/4 of crease (this is unblended to show positioning)
Blend with crease brush! Fluff out just the edges of the shadow past crease to fade harsh lines. Take your time
Q-tip + makeup remover to carve out cat eye! Start from under bottom lash line & sweep upwards removing shadow. This is my #1 secret for perfect cat eye liner
With ELF liner brush, smudge color #4 along outer 1/3 of bottom lash line & color #2 on remaining lash line. This balances out the smoked out look on top lid
Bobbi Brown Long-Wear Gel Liner in "Blank Ink 1" on entire top lash line + smudged a little along outer 1/3 of lower lashes for extra definition
Using Kat Von D liquid liner pen, trace that carved out line of removed shadow. I start from the outer tip of wing and work down to lower lash line
Connect wing from outer tip to liner on main part of upper lid & fill in
2 coats of YSL Baby Doll mascara after curling lashes
Yves Saint Laurant Mascara Volume Effet Faux Cils: Baby Doll Mascara. Will definitely talk about this later -- but this is worth every penny! Currently exlusive to Sephora!
Here is the finished look one more time in different lighting:

ALL DONE!!! Hope this tutorial helped! Good luck with your fierce smokey eyes!
